Sir. Muteesa Edward II.

He was a nationalist who resisted the idea of the East African Federation. He was exiled in 1953 but returned in 1955 after the signing of the Namirembe Agreement.

The Baganda under Kabaka Mutesa II did not want to be members of one unitary state. They wanted to run their own government.

In 1961 they formed their own party, the Kabaka Yekka (Kabaka alone) to fight for their special position.
